MUSIC VIDEO (A2 PRACTICAL PRODUCTION)

PICKING A SONG
Today I joined my new group for my A2 practical production which consists of Steph, Daisy, Nicole and me. We all decided that we where going to make a music video, we knew that pop would be a good route to go down as you can do a really simple video with a simple background and a few simple props and costume changes to make it suitable for the song. As the four of us are quite similar in music tastes we all decided that it would be best to do a girl group song, we began looking at popular girl bands such as:
-Girls Aloud
-The Spice Girls
-Atomic Kitten
-The Saturdays
-Sugarbabes etc...
All of these bands are very similar, they all dress in cute short fashionable outfits, they always have different colours for each girl or characters for each member of the band such as the spice girls and girls aloud. Both of these bands had characters for each girl this meant that they would reach out to loads of different types of girls for their audience.
THE SPICE GIRLS:
There was 'Baby spice' she was for all the really girly girls out there who loved pink and pigtails! Then there was 'Scary spice' she was for all the fans that where a little outside the box and really excitable and fun! Then there was 'Sporty spice' she was full of energy and she was for all the 'tom boys' in the world. There was 'Posh spice' who was for the more grown up girls with a love of fashion and a more sophisticated outlook on life! Finally there was 'Ginger spice' who was the one with attitude and big confidence she was the one everyone looked at when she walked into a room.
When we make our music video we need to make sure that we have our own characters so that when people watch it they can identify with at least one of them!
After some thought and mind mapping we settled on 'The Saturdays' who are a popular girl group in the charts today. We then looked through their songs and we all picked 'ego' and 'work' as our favourites so to decide what on we would use for our video we went on 'google' and looked at the lyrics for the two songs. After reading them we all wanted to use 'work' for the music video as the song will be easy to portray and choreograph a dance to for the video.
