REVIEW OF MY AS PROJECT

PRELIMINARY AND PRACTICAL PRODUCTION:
Reflecting on my AS project i can see that i had made good and bed decisions regaurding the practicle production.
My AS project which is (here) was a practicle production which consisted of me Charley and Abbie shooting the introduction to a film that we created. Our film was called '4AM' and after all the planning and story boarding we managed to have a really strong and clear idea for a film. We settled for a horror genre as we thought that because we had a low budget we wernt spoilt for possibiltys and horror/ thriller is one of the easiest genres to shoot on a low budget.

The overall out cone of the film was of a very high quality and we where all really happy with the final finished product.

Before doing the practicle porduction we had to do our preliminary task which you can find (here), but compared to the film oppening our preliminary task was poor and wasnt shot well at all!! i think that we had really good concepts though and managed to show all of the shots and tecniques that where required of us. We did however break some rules such as the 180 degree rule! this made the preliminary task very amature and not proffesional looking at all.

PRE PRODUCTION:
This for me was a really simple part of the project as we did a lot of research which we could easily acsess the information we needed. We conducted some questionaires and managed to gather plenty of information on what our target audience would expect from our genre of film we had chosen.
We managaed to find out the typical conventions of thriller/ horror films and this obviously helped us to decide the basic story line for the film.

PRODUCTION:
This was my favourite part of the whole porcess and i really enjoyed filming and figuring out all the shots we would use and the location of filming. all though we did spend most of this time filming and re filming once we got all that right we focused everything we had in to editing the peice and making it look as professional as possible.

we also had to write a voice over for the film this was a concept that we had decided on right at the begging of the pre production process but we had dismissed it as we didnt think it appropriate for our genre. We then changed our minds on the voice over and decided that we should use it as one of the criteria was to challenge the typical conventions of a horror/ thriller film. We spent a long time tryign to script the voice over and we then recorded it using garage band, a program we also used to create the soundtrack which was played behind the voice over and the oppeing if the film.
we also had to create a logo for our company which we entitled 'C.I.A productions' Abbie took on this role and managed to create a really amazigng logo for us to use on photoshop.
Overall though I think that even though this was the most challengign part of the process i did really enjoy the practical hands on factor of this section.

POST PRODUCTION:
Edititng was the hardest process by far and as none of us had not got much/ any experience of actually using the editing program.
Charley was probably the most able out of all us when it came to editing and she really was the one who did the most editing. i think that as the process went along we all learnt more and more about each section, and we all had our little areas that we felt most confortable in weather that be filming, editing, acting, scripting, creating the soundtrack or storyboarding.

At the end of it all i am really proud and i think that my blog and the final film oppening are really strong and i know that i really tried and put in everything i had. This project was really important to me and i know that me charley and abbie all saw it as 'our thing' We all worked so hard and we all chipped in whenever we could. We all really enjoyed working together and i think that we all have our stregths in different areas of the production process which is really important as that means that collectivly as a group we where very strong in all areas. We have all decided to work together again in A2 and we are keeping the company name and logo!
